Patna: The Bihar State Disaster Management Authority organised an earthquake safety mock drill at the Patna Collectorate on Saturday as part of the ongoing Earthquake safety fortnight, which is set to conclude on Jan 29.
Conducted under the direction of Sunil Kumar Singh, commandant of the 9th Battalion
NDRF, the exercise was supervised by deputy commandant Lalan Kumar.
The primary objective of the drill was to sensitise personnel on minimising casualties and property damage during seismic events. The training team, led by inspectors Ashok Kumar and Gagan Sinha, along with sub-inspectors Chandan Singh and Gaurav Kumar, demonstrated essential rescue techniques and office safety protocols. Approximately 200 personnel participated in the programme, which was held in collaboration with the Bihar State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Disaster management department.
The event was attended by Devendra Pratap Shahi, ADM (disaster), Patna, alongside senior officials from the SDRF, fire services, and representatives from the NCC. This initiative is part of a broader state-wide effort to enhance disaster preparedness and ensure a coordinated response among various emergency services.
