Taylor Swift has been spotted multiple times in a rare opal jewelry suite once owned by
Elizabeth Taylor, and the man who sold it believes NFL star
Travis Kelce may be behind the purchase. The full Darlene de Sedle set, which includes two gold bracelets, chandelier earrings, and a ring crafted in 22-karat gold with black Australian opals, was sold by Fox Estate Jewelry via 1stDibs in 2025 for $125,000 to a sports agent.
Did Travis Kelce buy Elizabeth Taylor’s opal jewellery suite for Taylor Swift?
Speculation grew after Fox Estate Jewelry’s Adam Fox hinted in an Instagram Reel that Travis Kelce could be behind the purchase. The opal suite, first sold at Christie’s in 2011 for $6,000 and later listed on 1stDibs in 2025 for $125,000, reportedly changed hands during Christmas. Fox said it went to a sports agent, calling it unusual for such a high-value estate piece.

He described estate sales, saying: “On the majority of these online platforms, for higher-ticket items, somebody will reach out, ask questions. Sometimes they will try to negotiate, sometimes they won’t. This just randomly sold,” He noted the lack of negotiation felt unusual.
Seeing Taylor Swift wear the full suite, Fox said it finally made sense: “I was like, ah, this makes so much more sense,” He called it “very cool” and added, “I’m just the jewelry dealer,” noting, “I just had to assume.
And the only reason I assumed that was because it was going to a sports agent.”
Swift’s connection to opal adds weight. She told Us Weekly in 2016: “My favorite stone is an opal because when I was bullied in school, my mom used to take me to TJ Maxx after school to look at the opal jewelry,” “I thought opals were so beautiful, and somehow it made me feel better. We never bought them, just looked.” The stone also links Kelce’s birthstone and her track “Opalite” and Elizabeth Taylor references.
Fox said he was glad the set found a fitting home. “I’m just glad it went to somebody that actually appreciates it. I know Taylor Swift has a song about Elizabeth Taylor, and it all makes sense. It seems like it was bought with a lot of purpose; there was obviously a lot of thought put into this one,” He added, “It’s not something that’s ever run across my desk,” noting its rarity and long absence.
Public interest around the set continues to grow as Swift’s appearances fuel further discussion online, especially as fans revisit the history behind the estate piece and its unexpected return to contemporary celebrity culture.
