NEW DELHI: Drew Lock led the Seattle Seahawks to a thrilling 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, throwing a 29-yard touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with just 28 seconds left in the game. Lock orchestrated an impressive 92-yard drive in the final 1:52, connecting with DK Metcalf for a crucial 34-yard gain. The game-winning touchdown catch by Smith-Njigba, who beat Eagles cornerback James Bradberry, helped Seattle end a four-game losing streak. The Seahawks, now 7-7 for the season, never held the lead until Lock's late-game heroics. Julian Love's two interceptions in the fourth quarter, including the game-sealer with six seconds left, played a crucial role in securing the victory for Seattle.
Jalen Hurts, despite battling an illness that led him to fly separately from the team, had a resilient performance for the Eagles. He rushed for two touchdowns, equaling the NFL single-season record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback with 14, matching Cam Newton's record from 2011. However, it wasn't enough to avoid the Eagles' third consecutive loss.Lock, filling in for the injured Geno Smith, completed 22 of 33 passes for 208 yards and one touchdown.
Running back Kenneth Walker III contributed 86 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, while Metcalf caught five passes for 78 yards. The Eagles had initially taken a 10-0 lead in the first half, with Jalen Hurts scoring a rushing touchdown and Jake Elliott adding a field goal. However, Seattle fought back, with Jason Myers' field goal and Walker's 23-yard touchdown run tying the game at 10 in the third quarter. The Eagles briefly took a 17-10 lead in the third, but Lock's late-game heroics secured the Seahawks' victory.(With Reuters inputs)
