Jordon Hudson, the girlfriend of former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, has publicly called out major sports media outlets for what she considers uneven coverage of the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini scandal. Since the New York Post published photos of the pair in April, networks like ESPN and NBC have largely sidestepped the story. Hudson has repeatedly highlighted what she sees as a glaring contrast with how her own relationship with Belichick was handled by the press.
Why is Jordon Hudson accusing NFL media of double standards?
Sports host Tony Farmer recently compiled a video montage showing various media personalities declining to discuss the situation, including clips from ESPN and Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub. Hudson reposted it on X, not for the first time.
"A montage of people in the media being awkward about covering the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini story. Compare this to coverage of the Coldplay couple, Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson, Ime Udoka, Rex Ryan, and Sherrone Moore. What is going on?" Farmer wrote.
The contrast she is pointing to is difficult to ignore. When Hudson's relationship with Belichick became public last offseason, the coverage was relentless. Reports surfaced about her being copied on Belichick's official University of North Carolina emails and being involved in managing parts of his schedule. There were even stories about her building a real estate portfolio worth close to $8 million.
Yet, when photos emerged of Vrabel and Russini together, the same newsrooms that had devoted significant airtime to Belichick and Hudson went unusually quiet. Hudson directly called out Pro Football Talk, writing: "We're not talking about this? Why not, @ProFootballTalk?" She has also taken aim at The Athletic, where Russini worked most recently before resigning.
What makes the comparison sharper is that Russini previously worked at ESPN, the very network now staying largely silent, and the alleged affair reportedly occurred during that time there.
Neither Vrabel nor Dianna Russini has publicly addressed the allegations. ESPN has not indicated whether it plans to review any reporting Russini produced while covering Vrabel. Meanwhile, Vrabel has sought counseling and continues as Patriots head coach, and Belichick is still at the helm in North Carolina.
Whether the media's restraint reflects bias, legal caution, or something else entirely, Hudson is not letting it go unnoticed.
