Rizvi College lift Champions Trophy

MUMBAI: An all-round show by skipper Pankaj Jaiswal (39 & 2-30) saw Rizvi College clinching the first edition of Rizvi Champions Trophy inter-collegiate cricket tournament, organized by Mumbai University, under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association, on Friday.
The Bandra outfit defeat Jhunjhunwala College by 14 runs in a pulsating low-scoring final played at the MIG Cricket Club ground.
Batting first on a turning track, Rizvi were bundled out for 175 in 36.1 overs after being 144 for four at one stage. They lost their last six wickets for 31 runs. For Jhunjhunwala, off-spinner Jaideep Pardeshi (3/21) and Jay Nayak (3-9) did most of the damage.
Given the wicket, the chase was never going to be easy. As the ball turned square, Jhunjhunwala did put up a spirited fight but fell short by 14 runs.
Off spinner Ankush Jaiswal (3-39) and skipper Pankaj shared the spoils for Rizvi College.
