BRISBANE: Talented Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane struck a century but that didn't prove enough as Indian side were just four runs shy off target when umpires called off play in their three-day match against South Africa at the Emerging Players' Meet.
The teams got three points each from the match. It proved to be an interesting final day as South Africa resuming at their overnight score of 122 for one declared at 291 for three with opener Reaza Hendricks (125 not out, 214 balls, 13x4, 1x6) and skipper Stiaan van zyl (128, 163 balls, 18x4, 2x6) scoring centuries.

Set a target of 282, Indians were 278 for six when play was called off in the 56th over. Rahane scored 109 off only 122 deliveries striking nine boundaries and two sixes in the process. Skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored a quickfire 39 while Ambati Rayudu smashed an unbeaten 51 off only 45 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes.
With only four runs to win, the match was called off by umpires Nathan Johnstone and Damien Mealey after the first delivery of the fourth mandatory over was bowled by Kyle Abbott.
