NEW DELHI:
Wriddhiman Saha is back to the domestic grind within a week of playing a Test in Adelaide.
Being a second wicket-keeper to
MS Dhoni on tours over a year, Saha hasn't done his reputation any harm with his performance at the highest level.
With him not being considered for the limited-overs format andnot many overseas tours coming up in the next two years, the Bengal stumperknows he would be up against it to keep reminding the selectors as and when theopportunity arises.
But Saha doesn't look beyond the Indian domesticcircuit to push his case. For him, consistent performances here should serve himwell.
"I don't want to play county cricket in England. I want to keepperforming here. Anyone who has done well here has been selected," said Saha, who is ready to bide his time.
Things are not easy when he has towarm the bench for months. But the 27-year-old remains unperturbed. "You can'tallow stray thoughts to bother you. Then you won't be able to concentrate whenyou get the chance to play," he said while adding that being tagged as a Testplayer doesn't bother him.
Having been on tours to South Africa,Australia and England under his belt, an interaction with the likes of Ian Healyand Alec Stewart doesn't seem too far away. But, he admits that Dhoni has beenhis guiding light.
"The ball wobbles a lot in these countries. Dhonihas helped me a lot. He told me to stick to the basics and not to think much,"mentioned Saha.
