The NBA has some of the most successful multi-generational stories where the sons have picked up the mantle left by their fathers and have taken it a step higher. These legacies remain endearing as they aren’t measured by trophies or rings but by how deep the love of basketball runs in the family. From scoring in a physically competitive 80s and 90s to the revolutionised basketball of the modern NBA, a lot of father-son duos have attained immovable records, while some continue to climb up the ladder. Let’s look at some of the most successful father-son pairs in the NBA.

1. LeBron James and Bronny James (42,692 Points)

The James family sits at the top, undisputed. The father-son duo made history in 2024 as the first pair to ever play together in NBA, which just makes this statistical lead more impressive. The scorecard is largely fueled by LeBron’s status as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with more than 50k total career points. This milestone is a testament to LeBron’s 23 years of unprecedented longevity. Currently, LeBron has 42,601 regular-season points and is averaging 21.9 points per game for the 2025-26 season. Whereas Bronny has been clocking in less than 10 minutes on the court and has an average of 1.5 points with a combined career total of 91 points.

2. Steph Curry and Dell Curry (38,920 Points)

The Currys made the biggest move on the night of Warriors vs Hawks as they surpassed the Bryants to secure the silver position on this list. Stephen Curry finished the game with 31 points, taking his career total to a staggering 26,250. Combined with his father, Dell Curry’s massive 12,670 career points, the duo has close to 40k points. Dell Curry was known as a premier marksman for his elite shooting, but Stephen Curry has redefined the shooting and what it means to a point guard. He took it a notch higher.

3. Kobe Bryant and Joe Bryant (38,895 Points)

Kobe and Joe Bryant occupy the 3rd place with 38,895 points. This is one of the most prolific father-son duos in the NBA. Joe Bryant was known for his versatility, from shooting beyond the arc to rebounding in the paint, and in his eight-year-long NBA career, he accumulated over 5000 points. Joe laid the foundation for Kobe that helped him to nurture his mamab mentality. Kobe’s NBA career spanned over 20 years with 5 NBA championships, 18 All-Star and an MVP. He gathered a total of 33,643 career points. Though they have been overtaken in total points, their legacy remains the blueprint for father-son success in professional sports. Also read: Lebron James’ Net Worth timeline (2016 to 2026): NBA salary, brand collaborations, and more
