Combat sports experts are urging
Jake Paul to reconsider his desire for a potential fight with Francis Ngannou now that Jake has sustained a broken jaw requiring surgery after being stopped by Anthony Joshua in December. Jake Paul is recovering from surgery after suffering a brutal loss to Joshua.
Jake Paul lost to Anthony Joshua in December. This was one of the most devastating losses of his boxing career. Jake's career began as a YouTube star, but he transitioned into a professional boxer after achieving success on social media. Jake was stopped during this fight and suffered a broken jaw in the process, and needed to have surgery, and won’t be able to fight again until at least July of 2022. Jake Paul's broken jaw has raised questions about his commitment to continuing to fight against elite heavyweight opponents.
The discussion surrounding a possible fight between Jake Paul and Francis Ngannou generated significant buzz after Jake Paul made comments suggesting he had an outperforming performance against Joshua compared to Ngannou. Initially, Ngannou rejected the idea of fighting Jake Paul. Jake has re-ignited the discussion through interviews and podcast appearances that question Ngannou's ability to fight long-term and claim that the two of them would make a competitive matchup.
There is growing concern within the fighting community that the potential for risk may far exceed the benefits for Jake Paul, given his increasing economic success and long-term health considerations.

Daniel Cormier warns Jake Paul about long-term health risks
Daniel Cormier, a former UFC Champion, recently advised YouTuber/boxer Jake Paul to think twice about fighting heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Cormier's main concern regarding this potential matchup was the excessive amount of damage Jake Paul may incur if this fight were to happen, rather than doubting Jake Paul’s toughness or ambition to be a successful fighter.
On his YouTube channel, Daniel Cormier stated that, while there are many ways for Jake Paul to earn money, the long-term effects of heavyweight KOs will have a lasting effect on Peter. Although Jake has proven to be brave, continually fighting men who are often much larger than him will result in damage that will not simply go away over time.
Daniel Cormier highlighted how both Joshua and Ngannou have similar physical threats when compared with each other. He believes that if Paul stepped into a boxing ring against Ngannou, he would be exposed to the same type of danger as when he fought against Joshua.
Francis Ngannou left the UFC to compete in professional boxing in 2022. Ngannou had a good start by knocking out Tyson Fury in his boxing debut, but lost a split decision after the first round. Ngannou lost by KO to Joshua in 2024 and six months later, returned to mixed martial arts and defeated Renan Ferreira by TKO in less than three minutes.
Daniel Cormier stated that there was a time when he did not have a good relationship with Paul, but those days are over now. Cormier's comments are based on respect for Paul and concern for his career as a fighter.
