Imtiaz takes lead at Jamshedpur Open
JAMSHEDPUR: Local favourite Mohammed Imtiaz snatched the first day's honours at the Jamshedpur Juniors Cup, the sixth leg of the nine-event Tata Steel IGU East Zone Junior Tour being played at the Beldih Golf Club on Wednesday. Imitiaz carded 10-over to open up a three-shot lead from tournament favourite Viraj Khanna who returned a card of 13-over in the top category (Cat A & B).Zahed Khan was third at 87 while Akritdeep Sachdeva was fourth. Vishesh Khanna and Udayajit Bhalotia are sharing the firth spot after the first round. Bibek Sardar fired 77 for a five-stroke lead over Manish Rajak in the category C. Hashan Rahman was third while Raghav Kharb and Arshad Ali were fourth and fifth respectively. A round of 84 ensured Sandeep Yadav lead the category D while Rajib Ali is one shot off the pace. Abhikanks Basu was third while Pratham Choudhary was fourth. In the lowest category, Rakshik Basu was leading over Md Rayyan Habib.Imtiaz, 16, who knows the course as the back of his hand, opened with a back-to-back pars before dropping a shot on the par-4 third.
