Oliver Rowland meets Lando Norris at Monaco E-Prix, reveals key to Round 10 victory

Oliver Rowland now has six podium finishes in 10 races in Formula E Season 12, with the latest one being his first win of the season. The result propelled him further up the Drivers’ Standings and firmly into the title fight. The Nissan driver admitted he had to remain disciplined during a chaotic race in which several drivers were “doing crazy stuff”. Rowland also met Formula One world champion Lando Norris at the Circuit de Monaco, with fans delighted to see pictures of the pair together.

Oliver Rowland reveals how discipline secured Monaco E-Prix victory

Oliver Rowland started eighth on the grid and took the lead late in the race as Attack Mode activations caused constant shuffling among the top 10 drivers throughout the opening half of the contest.

Rowland managed his energy efficiently to work his way through the pack and snatch the lead at the Nouvelle Chicane on Lap 23 of 28, despite a few Full Course Yellows interrupting the race. The victory marked his second consecutive win at the Monaco E-Prix.

Speaking after his long-awaited win, Rowland said, “It’s been nearly a year since I stood on the top step of the podium. It was a crazy race, some drivers decided to do some different stuff, but I kept a high pace. It was really difficult to stay disciplined. I knew we had to stay above the energy targets, but staying disciplined and out of trouble was key for us. You never know if there is going to be a Safety Car because that can change the targets. I was pretty confident in what I was doing and the team kept me really well informed. I felt confident.”

Rowland now sits second in the Drivers’ Standings with 109 points.

When Oliver Rowland met Lando Norris

Oliver Rowland also met reigning Formula One world champion Lando Norris, who was in Monaco for the race weekend. The two shared a hug and a laugh before posing for pictures together. Nissan later shared the images on Instagram with the caption: “These guys know a thing or two about being World Champions. Pleasure to see you, @lando.”

Norris watched the Formula E race from the Andretti paddock while cheering on his friend and Andretti driver Jake Dennis. The McLaren driver also expressed an interest in driving a Formula E car in the future.
