BTS fans have once again shown that their influence stretches far beyond music charts and social media trends. This week, Global Citizen publicly thanked ARMY after the fandom raised more than $30,000 in just four days for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The campaign quickly gained traction online, with fans rallying around the cause and turning a charity initiative into a global conversation.
The appreciation post, shared by Global Citizen, praised ARMY for “singlehandedly” helping fund access to education and sports opportunities for children worldwide. The moment also renewed interest in the FIFA-backed initiative that has quietly become one of the most ambitious social impact campaigns linked to the 2026 World Cup.
BTS ARMY helps FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund cross another milestone
Global Citizen’s message to BTS fans struck an emotional chord online. The organisation wrote, “ARMY! We are incredibly grateful for your donations to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. In just 4 days, ARMY raised over $30k in support of access to education and sport for children around the world.”
The campaign highlighted the growing role fandom communities now play in humanitarian work. BTS fans have previously donated to disaster relief efforts, education drives, and social justice causes.
This latest fundraiser added another chapter to that legacy.
The timing also matters. With the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching, organisers are trying to connect football’s global reach with long-term educational projects. The visibility generated by BTS ARMY gave the campaign fresh momentum online, especially among younger audiences who may not have been aware of the initiative before.
Social media users praised the fandom for turning collective enthusiasm into direct action. Many fans noted that the donation drive reflected BTS’ long-standing message about youth empowerment, hope, and community support.
What is the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund?
The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund was launched earlier this year with a bold target of raising $100 million by the FIFA World Cup 2026 final. The initiative aims to improve access to quality education and football development programmes for children across more than 200 communities worldwide.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino explained the vision behind the project, saying, “On the occasion of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, we donated 1 USD for each ticket sold to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. We will do the same for the FIFA World Cup 2026, and we will ask everyone else participating in it to contribute too.”
Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans also highlighted the urgency behind the campaign. “There are 250 million children around the world without access to basic education. The fact that FIFA is using this platform to make sure that over 100,000 children get access to quality education is very powerful.”
The fund also has support from major public figures, including Shakira, Hugh Jackman, Serena Williams, Kaká, and The Weeknd, as FIFA and Global Citizen attempt to turn the world’s biggest football event into a lasting educational movement.
