The IPL 2026 playoff race has taken another dramatic turn with the latest points table update, as the battle for the final qualification spot heads into the last round of league matches.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru continue to dominate the standings and have already secured a playoff berth. RCB remain at the top with 18 points from 13 matches, winning nine games and maintaining the best net run rate in the tournament at +1.065. They will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad in a clash that could decide the top-two order.
Gujarat Titans are second with 18 points in 14 games and an NRR of +0.695, while Sunrisers Hyderabad sit third with the same number of points but a slightly lower NRR of +0.350. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs.
Rajasthan Royals currently hold fourth place with 14 points and remain favourites for the final playoff berth despite a modest NRR of +0.083. Punjab Kings are fifth with 13 points but arrive under pressure after losing five matches in a row.
KKR now have six wins, six defeats and one no result, along with a positive net run rate of +0.011, and sit sixth on points table, keeping their playoff hopes alive ahead of a crucial final game against Delhi Capitals.
Chennai Super Kings have been eliminated from the playoff race with just 6 wins in 14 games and currently sit seventh on the points table.
Delhi Capitals remain mathematically alive with 12 points, though Delhi’s poor NRR of -0.871 continues to hurt their chances badly.
At the bottom, Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants have already been eliminated after disappointing seasons, with both teams stuck on eight points.
