Bhuvneshwar Kumar led Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s pace attack in their IPL 2026 match against Punjab Kings on Sunday and finished with figures of 2/38 in four overs.
Bhuvneshwar struck on the third ball of the innings in Punjab’s chase of 223, dismissing Priyansh Arya for a three-ball duck. Priyansh was caught by Romario Shepherd. The RCB pacer then removed Prabhsimran Singh for 2 off 5 balls on the fifth delivery of his second over, with Devdutt Padikkal taking the catch.
With the wicket of Prabhsimran, Bhuvneshwar took his tally to 36 wickets against Punjab Kings in the IPL. He is now the joint-highest wicket-taker against PBKS in IPL history alongside Sunil Narine, who has also picked up 36 wickets against the Punjab-based side.
The milestone also helped Bhuvneshwar move to the top of the list of bowlers with the most wickets against one team in IPL history.
While Narine has taken all his wickets against Punjab Kings while representing Kolkata Knight Riders, Bhuvneshwar has dismissed PBKS batters while playing for Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and RCB.
The overall record for the most wickets against one team in T20 cricket belongs to Rashid Khan.
Rashid has taken 45 wickets in 21 T20Is against Ireland cricket team.
Apart from Bhuvneshwar, uncapped pacer Rasikh Salam Dar also claimed three wickets as RCB defeated Punjab Kings by 23 runs to become the first team to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
Venkatesh Iyer blasted a spectacular 40-ball 73 not out and powered RCB to 222 for four. Virat Kohli (58 off 37 balls), Devdutt Padikkal (45 off 25 balls) and Tim David (28 off 12) were the other significant contributors for RCB after they were asked to bat first.
