MEW DELHI: Afghanistan have loaded their 15-member T20 World Cup squad with six all-rounders, led by captain
Rashid Khan, for the tournament in the United States and West Indies this June.
The squad unveiled on Tuesday night included only four frontline batters: Ibrahim Zadran,
Najibullah Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Mohammad Ishaq.
With all-rounders
Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi,
Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, and Nangeyalia Kharote, Afghanistan aims to bolster its batting lineup.
The spin department boasts the likes of Mujeeb-ur-Rahman and Noor Ahmad, alongside Rashid and Nabi, crucial for Afghanistan's performance in the 20-team event.
However, Hashmatullah Shahidi, the top-order batter who captained Afghanistan in the 50-overs World Cup last year, missed the cut.
Afghanistan kick off their Group C campaign against Uganda on June 3. The top two teams from the group, which also features New Zealand and West Indies, will progress to the Super 8 stage.
