England vs Bangladesh Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: Stunning Heather Knight fifty saves England, defeat Bangladesh by four wickets

England vs Bangladesh Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: England Women continued their strong start to the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, grinding out a tense four-wicket win over Bangladesh in Guwahati on Tuesday. Former skipper Heather Knight produced a captain’s knock in spirit, crafting an unbeaten 79 off 111 deliveries to steer England home after a shaky chase of 178.

Put in to bat, Bangladesh struggled for fluency against England’s disciplined spin attack. Sophie Ecclestone once again proved her class, finishing with figures of 3/24, while Charlie Dean (2/28), Alice Capsey (2/31), and Linsey Smith (2/33) kept a tight grip on the proceedings. Sobhana Mostary offered resistance with a composed 60 off 108 balls, anchoring the innings as wickets fell at regular intervals. Rabeya Khan’s late fireworks — 43 not out from just 27 balls — ensured Bangladesh reached 178 before being bowled out in the final over.

England’s reply was far from smooth. Marufa Akter and Fahima Khatun bowled with purpose, reducing England to 29/2 inside seven overs and later to 103/6, keeping the contest alive. Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 32 provided brief stability, but once she and Sophia Dunkley fell, the pressure was squarely on Knight.

Displaying her trademark calm under fire, Knight built her innings steadily, bringing up her 28th ODI half-century with patience before switching gears in the closing stages. Alongside Charlie Dean, who remained unbeaten on 27 from 56 balls, she forged a match-winning 79-run stand for the seventh wicket to seal the result with 23 balls to spare.

With two wins in as many matches, England climbed to the top of the table alongside India, edging ahead on net run rate. Bangladesh, though spirited with the ball, were left ruing missed opportunities. England now face Sri Lanka next in Colombo, while Bangladesh will look to bounce back against New Zealand in Guwahati.

Bell pitches this on a fractionally fuller length, keeping the line of attack around the off stump. Rubya Haider tries to loft it over the infield, but mistimes off the toe end. England vs Bangladesh Live Score: What the skippers said
England skipper Nat Sciver-Brunt ahead of the game said, "We're going to bowl first. Yeah, I suppose we had a lot of success, so everyone's pretty confident after that (first game). Obviously we don't expect that to happen all the time. We start fresh today and we're really looking to make the most of it all. It's (preparation) been really good. We want to rest enough for the game. I'm prepared in any way that we would be typically for a game. We'd like to start fresh, I suppose. We're making sure that the practice is as purposeful as possible. Linsey Smith, an absolute superstar. All the bowlers did very, very well. Everyone picking up wickets, Smith in the powerplay really got us off to an amazing start. Really relishing the conditions. To use her strength was the most important thing. She hit her area really well. No, we're going to the same team."

England vs Bangladesh Highlights, Women's World Cup 2025: England Women made it two wins in a row at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 with a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Bangladesh at the Baraspara Stadium in Guwahati. Former captain Heather Knight anchored the chase with a gritty unbeaten 79 off 111 balls, steering England to 182/6 in 46.1 overs after Bangladesh were bowled out for 178.

Earlier, England’s spin unit dominated proceedings. Sophie Ecclestone led the charge with 3/24, supported by Charlie Dean (2/28), Alice Capsey (2/31), and Linsey Smith (2/33), as Bangladesh’s innings never gained momentum. Sobhana Mostary was the lone bright spot for Bangladesh, compiling a patient 60 off 108 balls, while Rabeya Khan’s late cameo of 43 not out lifted the total to a modest 178.

In reply, England’s top order faltered early as Marufa Akter (2/28) and Fahima Khatun (3/16) exploited the conditions to leave them reeling at 103/6. However, Knight stood firm, showcasing composure and shot selection, and found steady support in Charlie Dean (27*). Their unbroken 79-run stand for the seventh wicket took England over the line with 23 balls remaining.

The win took England to the top of the table with four points, level with India but ahead on net run rate. Bangladesh, despite their spirited bowling effort, are still searching for their first win of the campaign. England now travel to Colombo to face Sri Lanka, while Bangladesh meet New Zealand next in Guwahati.
