Opposition protesting against blackmoney blockade: Naqvi
Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today took a swipe at the opposition parties over their 'Aakrosh Divas' protest, saying their anger was not over demonetisation, but over Centre's "blockade" of black money. "Aakrosh (anger) is not against 'Notebandi' but against Nakebandi (blockade) of black money," the Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs tweeted.
Train and flight movement was normal, most vehicles hit the streets, and markets and shops mostly did normal business, as the 12-hour general strike called by 18 Left and other parties against demonetisation, evoked lukewarm response in West Bengal on Monday.
Schools and colleges remained open, though attendance was less than usual, while offices and business establishments functioned normally throughout the state.
