MP CM orders scrapping of two-child rule for govt job
Bhopal: In a major decision, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav Tuesday ordered the withdrawal of a draft provision in the proposed civil services rules that prescribes a maximum limit of two children for eligibility for govt jobs. He also ordered the immediate removal of the draft from the official portal. In 2001, the general administration department had introduced a provision disqualifying candidates with more than two living children from direct recruitment and departmental appointments in govt service. Under the provision, candidates having more than two living children on or after Jan 26, 2001, were not eligible for govt service under the MP Civil Services (general conditions of service) Rules, 1961. Further, under the MP Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965, having more than two children was treated as misconduct for serving govt employees.CM Yadav has now directed the general administration department to immediately remove all provisions relating to disqualification from govt service for having more than two living children, and to prepare and publish a revised draft.
