Demonetisation will boost GDP growth: Piyush Goyal
Union minister Piyush Goyal questioned former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's assertion that the Centre's demonetisation move would lead to a 2 per cent drop in the GDP and contended that the step would, in fact, result in an increase in the GDP growth rate. "Manmohan Singh is a noted economist, but we are also not illiterates. I fail to understand the logic put forward by him that the GDP will decline by 2 per cent after demonetisation," the Union minister of state for power (independent charge) told reporters after taking part in a rally to support the move. "If a business is conducted in black money, it does not get accounted in the GDP, but if it is deposited in the banks and tax is levied on it, then it will enhance the GDP," Goyal said.

Opposition is entitled to demand the PM's presence. And we have agreed to that. Now, if the debate goes on for 15 hours, you can't expect the PM to be present the whole time leaving behind his other engagements. As far as Rahul Gandhi is concerned, I want to tell him to check his own record.
2004-14 they didn't want to take any decision, therefore thay have a terrible legacy which they left behind. The current PM doesn't want that, he has taken a decision.
Dr Manmohan Singh mentioned yesterday that we will all be dead. Yes, we will all be dead but I want to ask - when you are in government, is it not advisable to think about future generation and not think that you will be dead. I want to ask him, what kind of legacy are we going to leave behind for our future generations.
