New IP cameras from Axis Communications can remotely adjust focus, zoom
NEW DELHI: Swedish network camera provider Axis Communications today introduced its new IP cameras, featuring i-CS lenses built in collaboration with Japanese lens manufacturer Computar (CBC Group). There are two variants - the indoor AXIS Q1615 Mk II and the outdoor AXIS Q1615-E Mk II.
The i-CS lens can directly exchange information such as geometrical distortion and the exact parameters regarding zoom and focus.
“In the past, CS-mount cameras had no information about what type of lens was mounted on them, making it necessary to manually fine-tune lens and camera settings for optimal results.
The new i-CS lens technology is based on an open protocol standard, allowing lens and camera to exchange information. The installer can remotely adjust both the focal length and focus of the camera. All in all, this makes installation quick, easy and time-saving,” said Andres Vigren, global product manager, Axis Communications.
The exchange of information between the i-CS lens and the camera enables easier setup of Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Barrel Distortion Correction (BDC). This reduces the time needed for setup and enables easy installation too.
The outdoor Axis Q1615-E Mk II camera feature scene profiles that enable the installer to select between traffic overview, forensic or live profiles. When choosing one of the preset scene profiles, the cameras automatically adjust exposure time, white balance, aperture, sharpness, contrast and noise. This helps in achieving best video quality for selected video surveillance needs.
The new cameras can provide 1080p videos at frame rates of up to 50/60 fps, or 720p video at frame rates of up to 100/120 fps.
The indoor camera features Axis’ Zipstream technology, which helps in reducing bandwidth and storage requirements while retaining video quality.
