Intex finally launches its first Sailfish OS smartphone at Rs 5,499
NEW DELHI: Last year at MWC Shanghai, Intex had announced a partnership with Jolla to make its Sailfish OS smartphone dubbed Intex Aqua Fish. This was Jolla’s first tie-up with a smartphone vendor in India for its Sailfish platform. After much delay, the first smartphone running Sailfish 2.0 made by Intex has been quietly launched on eBay India at a price of Rs 5,499.
The device will reportedly be available on other ecommerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Snapdeal going forward.
The device features a 5-inch 720p HD TFT display and runs a 1.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card. There is an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash along with a 2MP selfie camera.
The dual-sim smartphone supports 4G LTE and is backed by a 2,500mAh battery. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS among other regular features.
The interface of Sailfish OS is totally different from that of Android. It is heavily dependent on swipes and gestures. The device will be available in Black and Orange colour options.
The company also introduced Aqua Ring Android smartphone at a price of Rs 4,999. The Intex Aqua Ring sports a 5-inch 720p HD display with Asahi Dragontrail Glass protection. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580A processor with 1GB of RAM and Mali 400 MP2 GPU. On the storage front, the smartphone offers 8GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.
The device offers a 5MP A/F camera at the back with dual-LED Flash and a 5MP selfie camera. Powered by a 2, 450mAh battery, it is a dual-sim 3G capable smartphone. So, those who are looking at using 4G data plans should stay away from buying this phone. It comes with regular connectivity features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
