West Asia airspace update, March 9, 2026: Indian carriers plan 50 flights amid ongoing regional disruptions
The Ministry of Civil Aviation in its recent update shared that India’s aviation authorities will operate around 50 flights on March 9, 2026. The authorities are monitoring the current airspace situation in West Asia, with Indian airlines. It is to maintain connectivity between the region and India amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
As per official data, Indian carriers operated 51 inbound flights from the region on March 7 and carried nearly 8,175 passengers to India. These flights were mainly operated by major Indian airlines including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air.
Then on March 8, Indian airlines scheduled around 49 inbound flights from major airports across the region including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, and Jeddah. As of today, for March 9, the number of flights has been slightly increased to about 50 services, depending on the ground situation and airspace safety.
The development comes after the continuous instability in parts of West Asia that has disrupted air aviation routes worldwide. The airlines are forced to reschedule, reroute, and cancel services at many times. Amid all this, the safety of passengers remains the top priority. Continuous efforts are being done to maintain flight connectivity for travellers between India and major West Asian places.
The ministry also confirmed all the operations are being taken care of with coordination with airlines and airport authorities. Authorities are also closely monitoring airfare trends to prevent sudden price surges. They don't want to impact passengers trying to travel amid regional crisis.
Meanwhile, authorities have advised travellers to remain in touch with their respective airlines. Before he airport, travellers must get latest updates regarding their flight schedules, cancellations, or change in routes.
Authorities say further advisories and operational adjustments may be issued to ensure passenger safety and operation of flights.
Despite geopolitical tensions, the continued operation of flights highlights efforts by Indian airlines and the government to support passenger movement.
