UAE travel update: Expats with expired residency visas allowed to return until March 31
The United Arab Emirates has introduced a temporary measure allowing expatriate residents currently outside the country to return even if their residency visas have expired, easing travel procedures for those affected by recent disruptions. The decision was announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security and will remain in effect from February 28 until March 31.
Authorities said the initiative is aimed at assisting residents who were unable to return to the UAE before their visas expired due to exceptional circumstances.
Eligible residents will be permitted to travel back to the country during the specified period and complete the necessary procedures to regularise their residency status after arrival.

The policy provides a one-month window for eligible residents to enter the country, after which they can complete official procedures to restore or update their residency status through the appropriate channels.
