India has a total of 107 national parks, each providing a paradise for nature enthusiasts. Of these, six national parks have been declared as UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites, identified for having outstanding natural importance. Whereas one national park in India is a UNESCO Mixed World Heritage Site, which identifies both its natural and cultural significance.

Kaziranga National Park, Assam

Kaziranga National Park is renowned for having one-horned rhinoceroses. The park is characterized by diversified habitats, from wetlands to grasslands. It is known for hosting a variety of wildlife, among them tigers, elephants, and birds. Kaziranga has been a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site since 1985.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park, Rajasthan

Previously called Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park in Rajasthan has been a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site since 1985. It is a principal wintering site for migratory waterfowl, particularly Siberian Cranes. The park receives numerous birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts from across the globe.

Manas Wildlife Sanctuary, Assam

Manas Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam became a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site in 1985. It is along the India-Bhutan border and is covered with dense forest, grasslands, and rivers. It is home to Bengal tigers, elephants, and other endangered bird species. The sanctuary's biodiversity makes it a key part of India's natural heritage.

Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks, Uttarakhand

Nanda Devi National Park and Valley of Flowers in Uttarakhand were included as UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites in 1988 and 2005, respectively. Nanda Devi is India's second-highest mountain, with alpine meadows of unblemished beauty and pointed peaks. Valley of Flowers is famous for its alpine flora of kaleidoscopic colors.

Sundarbans National Park, West Bengal

It has been a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site since 1987 and is a large mangrove forest located in West Bengal. It is included in the Gangetic Delta and includes the Royal Bengal tigers, saltwater crocodiles, and other avifauna. Great Himalayan National Park, Himachal Pradesh

A UNESCO Natural World Heritage site since 2014, the Great Himalayan National Park is a pristine high-altitude landscape in Himachal Pradesh. Sikkim's Khangchendzonga National Park was named a UNESCO Mixed World Heritage Site in 2016. The park covers the world's third-highest mountain, Mount Khangchendzonga, and has glaciers, alpine grasslands, and great biodiversity. The park is home to threatened animals such as the red panda, snow leopard, and musk deer.
