Stress fuels a person more than calmness. The constant act of worrying about one thing or another keeps one mentally and physically active, making them hyperactive in their thoughts and actions. While one might think that being stressed over something is actually productive as you are forced to take action, it actually drains you of the energy of being productive and truly making a difference. Stress is one of the most complex concepts for living, one that they are always seeking a solution for. Here are 7 life lessons by Sadhguru that can change the way you view stress:

Change the context of your life

According to Sadhguru, stress is the inability to manage the inner situation, the inner system. He advises that the quality of life changes when a person changes the context of life, not the content of it. All of us follow a similar routine to an extent: wake up, get ready, head to school or work, come back and spend the day prepping for the next. But why is it so that some are happy doing it while others are stressed? Well, it's as simple as changing your lens on life. While one can view a problem as an adversity, others can take it as an adventure.

Remember you are mortal

In the heaviness of everyday life where every motion feels larger than the other, one sometimes forgets that nothing continues further than the breath. It is only as long as you are alive that the problems of the mortal realm trouble your soul. Thus, Sadhguru suggests structuring your emotional and psychological framework around the most fundamental fact of life: mortality. It is important to remember that you are mortal and the clock is ticking away. Thus, you could either make space for emotions like depression, anxiety, stress or celebrate with happiness, calm and collected. For this, he also suggested sticking your fingers into the earth for an hour every day.

Intelligence is humility

According to Sadhguru, intellect is a double-edged sword. While it makes humans understand and evaluate everything it also makes them heavy with knowledge, making them turn to vices such as intoxication. 'Noticing the stupidity of who you are is great intelligence,' he said. When you are unaware of everything in the world, practising humility and being in touch with everything you connect to will teach you everything and ensure success in every endeavour you partake in.

Suffering is optional

Pain is natural but suffering is not. Sadhguru advised asking yourself one question: If you had the choice to be miserable or joyful, what would you choose? Everyone in life wants to be joyful and the only thing stopping you from that is that your life energies are not aligned. You are not functioning consciously but rather as a compulsive reaction to events. Choosing to be peaceful and joyful will happen very naturally if you consistently make that choice.

Don't be dead serious in life

Sadhguru advises to make oneself non-serious and ridiculous. Get up and dance at random moments, loosen up your life. Along with doing the very important things in your life, do tasks you think are not important, that are simple. Every day in your 24 hours, take a 'holiday', some time where you are not serious and engage with life and people around you.

There is no good and bad

When you have an opinion on everything, categorising objects and events as good and bad is a difficult way to live. In this case, you blindly pursue what you think is good and dangerously avoid what you think is bad, but this kind of living is more influenced by prejudice than reality. This is why it is important to observe things as they are life becomes simple. If you let yourself be yourself and others you become an observer of true creation and the creator of your life yourself.

Break the status quo

Look at life in terms of what can be changed and what cannot. Stressing about things that are not in your control is a sure shot way of remaining in the status quo of anxiety and self-importance. Thus, once a month you should sit and analyse one thing about yourself that you want to change and work on it.
