Here's what you must learn from Sudha Murthy

She is an author, a philanthropist, and also the chairperson of Infosys Foundation. Married to the co-founder of Infosys, N. R. Narayana Murthy, Sudha has also been awarded the Padma Shri, for social work by the Government of India in 2006. She is the perfect person to take inspiration from and here are 5 small things we ought to learn from her. Scroll down to learn 5 life lessons from Sudha Murthy.

2/6

Be genuine

Sudha Murthy is amongst the richest women in India and is well respected for who she is today because she has always been down to earth and passionate about her work. She can easily afford the finer things in life but prefers to be the simplest person in the room.

3/6

Don’t mince your words

Murthy has always been the sort to speak her mind without mincing her words. As per reports, when she was applying for a position at TELCO, she saw on the footnote that it said that no female candidates could apply. To this she wrote to JRD Tata and raised the gender bias issue. She allegedly asked him how a prime brand like Tata put such a restriction. To her surprise she was granted a special interview and she went on to become a development engineer. This teaches us that we should be vocal about what we feel is right.

4/6

Never stop learning

We have always been told that there is no age to stop learning as we learn until our very end. Murthy too believes that learning new things every day keeps her young. Murthy once said in an interview that “the day you stop learning is the day you become old.”

5/6

Think beyond money

Murthy once said during an interview that we should “teach children that money doesn’t make a person extraordinary.” She gave the example of how a child should not be taught that money is everything or that it is important for a social standing.

6/6

Be yourself

Murthy has always been that perfect example of how important and relevant it is to be yourself today and not act like someone you are not. Putting up a facade is just not what she believes in. She has often laid importance on the fact that we must live life for ourselves and not for others let alone according to them.
