Meet Esther Hnamte, the 9-year-old singing sensation from Mizoram

Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte is a very famous Indian child singer and musical prodigy. She is originally from Lunglei, the state of Mizoram, India, and has won the hearts of the audience with her skills. She was born on June 9, 2016.

Esther has been taking singing seriously since the age of three, and her first major breakthrough as a child singer came when a video of Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte’s emotionally stirring rendition of A.R. Rahman’s “Maa Tujhe Salaam” went viral on the web in the year 2020, bringing her into the limelight.



National Recognition and Achievements

Esther has proved to be amongst one of the most popular young musicians in the whole country since her video went viral. The young star is also the fastest-growing young musician in the Northeast because she has more than a million subscribers on her YouTube channel.

Esther was appreciated in person for her performance of “Vande Mataram” during a visit to the state of Mizoram in March 2025. She was also gifted a guitar in appreciation of the sincerity of her patriotism as a young artist.

Esther also received the Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, the highest award for children throughout the country. She won the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Award in the field of Art & Culture on 26th December 2025.

Esther received the prestigious Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar Award, which is considered the country’s highest civilian award for minors, in the field of Art & Culture on 26th December 2025. The award function took place in Delhi, and Esther received the prestigious award from no less a person than the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as a tribute to her outstanding performance in the music genre and as a vital string in the fabric of culture in India.



Esther is very popular for her performances in patriotic songs like “Jana Gana Mana”, “Vande Mataram”, and “Maa Tujhe Salaam”. It was due to this that people from all corners have been attracted towards her performances.

She also worked on a special national anthem video with the Assam Rifles, which again reached a wider audience and reflected her effectiveness in resonating with people through music.
