Happy New Year 2026: How to get rid of a hangover after new year party
It is that time of the year again! With the end of another year and the dawn of a beautiful 2026 just in sight, it is time for partying like there is no tomorrow!
While the party last night was great, you wake up to sensations a bit too familiar. Think nausea, throbbing headache and burning throat. Yes, you were a bit too hammered last night and you have the dreaded hangover.
While you may or may not remember what happened last night, we can all mutually agree that hangovers are the worst. The sad part is they tend to get worse with age and it can take anywhere from 8 to 24 hours for the symptoms to completely subside. No matter how many times you promise yourself that you will not drink ‘this much’ the next time, we all know that is not the truth.
What causes a hangover?
How many drinks did you have last night? A pint of beer and 3 shots of vodka? Well, the main cause of your terrible hangover is the alcohol in your system. Since alcohol is diuretic in nature, it makes you really, really dehydrated.
While there is no sure shot way of completely tackling the after-effect of an awesome party (except to not drink), we do have a few home remedies that can help you get rid of the throbbing pain and the feeling of being sick, the morning after.

1.Hydrate, hydrate and HYDRATE
The simplest and most important thing to do is to have enough water since dehydration is the main cause of your hangover. Fill a water bottle and keep it with you.
2. ORS to your rescue
Your body must have lost plenty of salt and potassium during your throwing up sessions; it is only essential that you sip on other liquids like ORS as well as fruit juices and coconut water.
3. Have water-based fruits
Thanks to heavy drinking the previous night, your stomach is not ready to digest something really solid. We suggest that you have something light, like a bowl of watermelon. You can also opt for bananas and oats.
4. Pop the pills
Now will be the time to take a painkiller to soothe a splitting headache and an anti emetic pill to control the wave of nausea. Remember to keep drinking water.
5. Get some vitamins
Loading your body with some multivitamins is a good solution. You can also opt for a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice to load up vitamin C.
6. Suck on lemon slices
If you don’t feel like opting for an antiemetic pill, you can cut slices of lemon and suck on them to relieve the sucky feeling of nausea.
7. Sleep as much as you want
This one is a no-brainer. Your body needs rest as much as it needs water right now. So, if you want to ditch any plans that you have made for the first day of the year, now would be the right time. Stay in the bed for as long as you feel like.
8. Take a shower
Once you feel better after getting the much-needed rest, it is advisable to take a cool shower to feel fresh and relaxed.
9. Stay away from caffeine
As much as you crave a cuppa of coffee right now, stay away from it as it is diuretic in nature. Same goes for your bed tea, it may just aggravate your nausea.
