Forget gowns, Diana Penty’s sindoori red Banarasi saree is our party fashion fantasy
Who wears a saree on Christmas? Well, if it looks like Diana Penty’s red Banarasi drape, count us in. Amidst the dominating modern ensembles usually worn on Christmas, Diana Penty chose to create her own aesthetic, fashioning a beautiful Banarasi saree with classic maximalist notes.
This ensemble heavily leaned towards Indian heritage and carried a hint of nostalgia; the choice redefined Christmas styling notes. She wore a sindoori red Banarasi saree by Mahima Mahajan, which cost a hefty Rs 95,000. Well, it was all worth it, as the iconic gold butis with a detailed border echoed the elegance of Banarasi weaving and emerged as an heirloom-worthy piece.
Known as the Yamini saree, it carried a rich overall balance that felt purposeful and was deeply rooted in craft. The fluid draping and clean lines allowed the craftsmanship to take centre stage, where the gold motifs beautifully caught the eye and made everything look absolutely phenomenal.
She matched its prowess with a plunging-neckline blouse in the same shade, which added a hint of modern note and complemented the rhythm of the drape. She elevated the look with the Amra Hasli Bag from Bespoke Ozels and wore a statement necklace with matching earrings from Raniwala 1881’s Pre-Fall 2025 collection.
The accessories brought a hint of luxury with thoughtful curation, but they never created an exaggerated edge. For beauty, she left her locks down in soft curls and opted for an illuminating base with defined sparkling eyes, mascara-laden eyeshadow, deep kohl strokes, peach blush notes, and glossy brown lips.
Her Banarasi moment was all about relevance; she showed the prowess of an Indian drape woven from a classic Indian textile, which is 'timeless' and perfect for all occasions throughout the year.Get the latest lifestyle updates on Times of India, along with Happy New Year wishes, messages and quotes !
