NEW DELHI: Congress student wing NSUI staged protests on Sunday against the VB-GRAMG scheme in several parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow and Varanasi, with protesters raising slogans against the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In Lucknow, NSUI workers demonstrated against the scheme and were detained by security personnel, visuals shared by ANI showed. Police moved in as protesters raised slogans during the agitation.

Meanwhile, security was tightened outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public outreach office in Varanasi ahead of the NSUI’s proposed “Save MGNREGA” march. All routes leading to the office were placed under strict surveillance by police and paramilitary forces, according to officials.
Drone visuals released by the Varanasi Police showed heightened security arrangements in the area, with barricades and deployment of forces to prevent any law-and-order situation.ANI had earlier reported that similar security measures were put in place as a precautionary step in view of the planned march by the NSUI.
