AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has raised concerns over the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, alleging that its provisions have led to repeated denial of bail in terror-related cases. He pointed out that the law was introduced during the UPA government and later strengthened through amendments in 2019, granting extensive authority to the NIA. Owaisi claimed that these changes allow individuals to be designated as terrorists without adequate safeguards, and accused both Congress and the BJP of enabling such powers. Stressing the impact on constitutional rights, he said the UAPA has become a tool for prolonged incarceration, particularly affecting youths, and needs serious review.
