Vilavancode election results 2026: Congress’ Praveen T.T wins by 20,970 votes against TVK candidate Michael Kumar K

Congress candidate Praveen T.T won the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election from Vilavancode by 20,970 votes against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate Michael Kumar K, while Vijayadharani S contested from the BJP.

Vilavancode is a Congress-stronghold assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district.

The current MLA is Tharahai Cuthbert of the Congress, who won the seat by over 40,000 votes in a 2024 by-election.

In the 2021 assembly polls, Congress’ S Vijayadharani, a three-time winner (2011, 2016, and 2021), was elected but later resigned and joined the BJP, prompting the by-election.

For the 2021 elections, Vilavancode had 242,916 registered voters, with 167,054 casting their ballots.
