In Trikaripur, Congress candidate Sandeep Varier won the 2026 Kerala Assembly election by 4,431 votes against CPI(M) candidate Dr. V P P Mustafa.

Thrikaripur, in Kasaragod district, is strategically located near the Kerala-Karnataka border, with a mixed urban-rural profile. It had about 1.95 lakh voters in 2021.

In 2021, LDF candidate M. Rajesh of CPI(M) won, defeating UDF’s IUML candidate by a margin of approximately 1,800 votes. BJP has been gradually making inroads but remains a minor player here.
