NEW DELHI: Aminul Haque Laskar of the Indian National Congress won the Sonai constituency with 89,957 votes, defeating Asom Gana Parishad candidate Karim Uddin Barbhuiya by a margin of 27,170 votes. Barbhuiya secured 62,787 votes. Trinamool Congress candidate Shahajahan Laskar finished third with 2,280 votes, followed by AIUDF's Minar Hussain Mazarbhuiya with 1,178 votes.
