JAMMU: J&K police have constituted a seven-member
special investigation team (SIT) to probe the assassination attempt on former CM and National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah during a marriage function in Jammu on March 11.
The SIT, ordered by inspector general of police Bhim Sen Tuti, will be headed by the DIG (Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range) Shiv Kumar Sharma.

On March 11 night, Abdullah had a miraculous escape when a gunman opened fire at him while he was leaving a marriage function in Greater Kailash area of Jammu.
The 63-year-old assailant, identified as Kamal Singh, was overpowered by alert security guards of the former CM and arrested on the spot. A licensed weapon (revolver) used in the crime was recovered from his possession.
