Coronavirus updates: Maharashtra reports 59,907 new cases, highest spike ever

The number of new coronavirus cases in India hit a record daily high since the outbreak of the pandemic with over 1.15 lakh new infections being reported in a span of 24 hours, pushing the nationwide Covid-19 tally to 1,28,01,785, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Wednesday. Covid-19 negative report must for Jagannath Temple visit; Odisha's tally mounts to 3,43,856

The district administration in Odisha's Puri, where the iconic Shree Jagannath Temple attracts lakhs of visitors, on Tuesday made it mandatory for travellers from five states to produce Covid-19 negative certificates in view of spiralling cases, an official said. The coastal state reported 588 fresh infections on Tuesday, pushing the tally to 3,43,856.
