Paravur election result 2026: INC VD Satheesan wins Paravur seat by over 20600 votes

VD Satheesan of INC secures Paravur with 20600 votes, beating CPI candidate ET Taison Master.

Paravur Assembly constituency, numbered 78, is located in Ernakulam district of Kerala and falls under the Ernakulam parliamentary constituency.

Established in 1957, it encompasses North Paravur Municipality and surrounding panchayats like Chendamangalam, Ezhikkara, Kottuvally, Puthenvelikkara, Varappuzha, and Vadakkekara. This general seat, with around 198,000 electors, reflects Kerala's urban-coastal dynamics near Kochi, blending fishing communities, backwaters, and growing suburbs.

The Indian National Congress (INC), part of the United Democratic Front (UDF), has dominated since 2001, with VD Satheesan as the current MLA and Leader of the Opposition. In the 2021 elections, Satheesan won decisively with 82,264 votes (51.87per cent share), defeating CPI(M)'s M.T. Nixon (60,963 votes) by a margin of 21,301 votes (13.47per cent), amid 79per cent turnout.

He previously triumphed in 2016 by 20,634 votes. Key issues include coastal erosion, monsoon flooding, waterlogging in lowlands, infrastructure bottlenecks like poor road links to Ernakulam, and employment challenges in fisheries and small industries.

Voters prioritise flood mitigation, highway expansions, and backwater conservation, fueling UDF's strong local appeal in this competitive seat.
