NILAMBUR: Aryadan Shoukath of the Indian National Congress (INC) won the Nilambur Assembly seat in the 2026 elections, defeating his nearest rival by a margin of 54,851 votes.
He was ahead of Girish Mekkattu of the Bharath Dharma Jana Sena, Jaisal Maliyekkal of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and Independent candidate U Sharafali.
Nilambur, located in Malappuram district, witnessed a closely watched contest, with the Congress managing to secure a decisive victory and reclaim the seat. The result marks a significant gain for the party in the region.
In the 2021 Assembly elections, Independent candidate P V Anvar had won the Nilambur seat by a narrow margin of 2,700 votes. Congress candidate Adv V V Prakash had finished as the runner-up, securing 78,527 votes, while BJP’s Adv T K Ashokkumar was also in the fray.
