Maharashtra Election 2024 Live: Mumbai voter count crosses 1-crore mark
The number of eligible voters in Mumbai has surpassed the one crore mark, reaching a total of 1,02,29,708 for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. This marks an increase from the 98.95 lakh voters recorded during the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year.
According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Bhushan Gagrani, the voter base for the November 20 assembly elections comprises 25,43,610 voters in the island city and 76,86,098 voters in the suburban district. Of these, 54,67,361 are men, 47,61,265 are women, and 1,082 are transgender persons. Additionally, there are 1,46,859 voters aged 85 or above, 23,928 persons with disabilities, 2,288 overseas voters, and 1,475 service voters.
Gagrani, who is also the Mumbai district election officer, noted that 2.91 lakh new voters have been added to the rolls since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, including 53,372 in the island city and 2,37,715 in the suburban district.
