Laharighat is one of the 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam. It is a general category seat located in the Morigaon district and, following the 2023 delimitation, it remains part of the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency.
In the 2026 Assembly elections, Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar of Congress (INC) won against Siddique Ahmed of All India Democratic Front and Kholilur Rahman of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), who is the candidate representing the BJP-led alliance.
In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,86,704 registered voters, with 1,63,369 valid votes cast. Congress candidate Dr. Asif Mohammad Nazar won the seat with 60,932 votes.
Independent candidate Siddique Ahmed finished second with 58,904 votes, losing by a narrow margin of 2,028 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Laharighat had 1,60,723 electors, with 1,39,870 valid votes recorded. Congress candidate Dr. Nazrul Islam won with 57,904 votes, defeating All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) candidate Siddique Ahmed, who secured 52,098 votes. The victory margin was 5,806 votes.
