Abdul Matin Muhammad of the All India Trinamool Congress has won the Haroa constituency with 1,17,591 votes. He defeated Piyarul Islam of the All India Secular Front, who secured 68,250 votes, by a margin of 49,341 votes.
Haroa is a general category constituency in North 24 Parganas, part of the Basirhat Lok Sabha seat. It is primarily rural with a significant Muslim population, located near the Sundarbans fringe, and has a voter turnout consistently above 85 per cent. In 2026, TMC has fielded Md Mufti Abdul Matin against BJP's Bhaskar Mondal.
In 2021, TMC's Islam Sk Nurul (Haji) won the seat with 1,30,398 votes, defeating the RSMP candidate by 80,978 votes — a massive margin.
In 2016, he also won with 1,13,001 votes, defeating CPI(M)'s Imtiaz Hossain by 42,407 votes. In 2011, TMC won narrowly with 1,124 votes. The seat was progressively safer for TMC over successive elections, and was considered a strong party hold.
