As voters in Delhi turned out to cast their votes in the Assembly elections on Wednesday, a polling booth in the Vikaspuri constituency became the centre of attention with its unique decorations themed ‘Chandrayaan se Chunav tak Bharat ki Udaan’.
Volunteers at the booth dressed as astronauts to assist voters, enhancing the space-themed ambience, which also featured telescopes and bioscopes to engage the electorate.
Voter Turnout Reaches 46.55% by 3 PM
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Delhi recorded a 46.55% voter turnout by 3 PM. The North-East district led with the highest polling percentage at 52.73%, while New Delhi district had the lowest turnout at 43.10%, just behind Central district, which stood at 43.45%.

Voting for all 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi, along with by-polls in one seat each in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh, began at 7 AM and will continue until 6 PM under tight security.
Earlier in the day, the District Election Office (DEO) of North Delhi dismissed claims of voter coercion at the Sainik Vihar polling station in Shakur Basti. Allegations surfaced on social media, with AAP accusing Delhi Police of “hijacking the election.”
Responding to a complaint received at 12:33 PM, the DEO stated on platform X: "Upon receiving the complaint, the Flying Squad (FST) was immediately dispatched to the location. The team reached the site and initiated an inquiry."
The investigation confirmed that voters had exercised their franchise freely, without any external pressure.
Caution and embarrassment may not be the most searched words on the internet in 2024, but are quite certainly the most haunted takeaways for the pollsters, who in pursuit of the bullseye, missed the entire electoral dartboard last year.
