Lakshman Chandra Ghorui of the
Bharatiya Janata Party won the Durgapur Paschim Assembly Constituency No. 277, defeating Kabi Dutta of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Durgapur Paschim is a General category Assembly constituency located in the Paschim Bardhaman district. It is one of the seven assembly segments that fall under the Bardhaman–Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency.
At present, Lakshman Chandra Ghorui of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the sitting MLA from Durgapur Paschim. He won the seat in the 2021 assembly election by securing 46.32% of the total votes polled. He was followed by the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) candidate, who received 38.87% of the votes.
Earlier, the constituency was won by Bishwanath Parial of the Indian National Congress (INC) in 2016. In 2011, Apurba Mukherjee of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) had secured victory in the seat.
