Delhi Elections 2025 Highlights: 'Rs 5 lakhs recovered from Atishi's aides,' claims BJP MoS Harsh Malhotra

Delhi Elections 2025 LIVE Updates: Delhi CM Atishi and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal came to the office of Election Commission of India.

Delhi chief minister Atishi levelled accusations against the BJP on Tuesday, claiming they were involved in disruptive activities. She alleged that both the Election Commission and Delhi Police were providing cover to BJP workers whilst targeting AAP members.

During a press conference, Atishi, who is standing for election in Kalkaji, said that India's democratic process now rests with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, and the nation is observing whether democracy endures in the capital.

"The BJP is openly engaging in hooliganism. But instead of taking action against them, Delhi Police is protecting them, while the Election Commission is filing cases against those who are raising complaints," she said.

She specifically pointed to BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, her electoral opponent, alleging that he and his family members were causing disruptions in Kalkaji without facing any consequences.

She emphasised that Delhi residents were observing the situation closely, contrasting the BJP's alleged attempts to halt welfare schemes and resort to violence with AAP's efforts to help households save Rs 25,000 monthly.

These statements followed Delhi Police's registration of an FIR against Atishi for alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and interference with official duties.

According to officials, she and approximately 50-70 supporters with 10 vehicles were discovered blocking Fateh Singh Marg, breaching the Model Code of Conduct. They reported that she allegedly hindered a police officer's duties when asked to clear the area.

A police representative said that an AAP worker had struck a head constable.

Atishi subsequently posted on X, criticising the Election Commission's perceived partiality. "BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri and his family members are openly engaging in hooliganism, yet no action is taken against them. Instead, a case has been filed against me," she wrote.

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with results to be announced on February 8.

'Work of ECI, Delhi Police is to engage in hooliganism...protect BJP, distribute liquor, money', says Kejriwal on case against Atishi over MCC violation
Aam Aadmi Party Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday made some serious allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Delhi Police claiming their actions are tantamount to supporting hooliganism against AAP and protecting the BJP's wrongdoing.

This comes after Delhi Police filed a case against Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate Atishi over violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Kejriwal took to social media to express his outrage, stating that the ECI and Delhi Police are working together to disrupt the electoral process and favour the BJP and claimed that their primary focus is to engage in hooliganism, protect the interests of BJP and distribute liquor and money.

In a post on X, Kejriwal said, "In response to a complaint about the growing hooliganism, the Election Commission has filed a police case against the Chief Minister of Delhi. So now, the official stance of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is - The 'work' of the Delhi Police and the Election Commission is to engage in hooliganism against the Aam Aadmi Party, provide protection to the BJP's hooliganism, and distribute liquor, money, and goods."

"If anyone tries to stop them from doing this 'work,' a case will be filed against that person for obstructing the 'work' of the police and the Election Commission," Kejriwal added.

She further announced the launch of a website to monitor electoral transparency.

Delhi Polls 2025: Party workers will reach out to every voter, says Delhi BJP chief
After the campaigning for the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls came to an end on Monday, BJP's city unit chief Virendra Sachdeva asserted that the party workers will dedicate themselves to securing each vote in the capital. Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: AAP has turned Delhi into 'dirty slum', says BJP
BJP Rajya Sabha member Kiran Choudhry on Monday accused AAP of turning Delhi into a "dirty slum", saying it was making excuses and blaming others for the bad state of affairs in the national capital. Initiating the discussion on the motion of thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha, Choudhry said AAP has lost the faith of the people of Delhi.

Without naming former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, she tore into APP leaders for using "condemnable terms" like "water terrorism, genocide, poison in Yamuna being supplied to Delhi and equating it with the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki" during the campaign for Delhi assembly elections.

They seem to have "lost their senses" and are making these statements when they have realised that after ten years, the people of Delhi are fed up with them for their non-performance.

Alleging that the AAP government did not take up any developmental work in Delhi, Choudhry said they have not fulfilled the promises that they made to the people of Delhi, and it is shameful.
