Delhi Elections 2025 LIVE Updates: Delhi Police seizes ‘Punjab govt’ car with liquor, cash and AAP pamphlets; BJP slams

With only a few days left until the high-stakes Delhi assembly elections, both the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have ramped up their campaigning. Arvind Kejriwal, national convenor of AAP, led the charge, highlighting his party's welfare initiatives, including 24-hour free electricity, quality education, and healthcare for Delhi’s residents.

Kejriwal accused the BJP of using public funds to offer loans to wealthy individuals, alleging that if the BJP wins, it will end all the services currently available to the people of Delhi. He drew a stark contrast between his party’s welfare model and the BJP’s approach, asserting that the AAP's focus on free electricity, water, and healthcare benefits the common people, while the BJP’s model prioritises the wealthy.

Addressing a rally in Jangpura, Kejriwal urged voters to choose AAP for zero electricity bills and warned that the BJP would end subsidies if they come to power. He promised that under AAP, Jangpura residents would have direct access to government officials, with the ability to resolve issues swiftly.

When Manmohan Singh was PM, we brought a law in the form of a guarantee, which was passed, its name was 'Nrega': Jairam Ramesh
"Today all parties are using the word 'guarantee', but this word was used by the Congress party in the Karnataka elections. We wanted to give this message to the public that the Congress party does what it says. When Manmohan Singh was the prime minister, the Congress Party brought a law in the form of a guarantee, which was passed and its name was 'National Rural Employment Guarantee Act'. Meaning of guarantee- This is a right of the public. If the promises made to them are not fulfilled, they can also take legal recourse. In this connection, the Congress Party has given 5 guarantees for Delhi," he said.

The level of ammonia in Yamuna has increased 700 times more than the permissible limit and it cannot happen automatically. This has been done. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Shatrughan Sinha is set to campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi ahead of the February 5 assembly elections, party sources confirmed. The TMC believes Sinha, an actor-turned-politician from Bihar, could help mobilize Delhi’s influential 'Purvanchali' voter base, comprising migrants from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, "one or two more" TMC leaders may join the campaign, a source revealed.

The TMC has extended its support to AAP in the Delhi elections, making it a three-way contest against the BJP and Congress.

Rahul Gandhi calls Manish Sisodia 'architect' of liquor scam alongside Arvind Kejriwal
Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday slammed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia, accusing him of being the "architect" of the alleged "liquor scam" along with former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

While addressing a public rally at the Patparganj Assembly Constituency, Gandhi alleged that Sisodia, the former AAP candidate from the constituency, fled the seat out of fear after being implicated in corruption.

Gandhi said, "Manish Sisodia, who was earlier the AAP candidate from Patparganj, the architect of the liquor scam with Arvind Kejriwal. He did a lot of corruption here, got scared and ran away from this seat. Now you should vote for Anil Chaudhary."

On Arvind Kejriwal, Gandhi said, "He (Kejriwal) said he would clean politics, but in Delhi, the biggest liquor scam happened. You must have seen photos of his house also. He stays in a palace -- 'Sheesh Mahal'... he was not there even when riots happened here."

Gandhi further stated that he envisions a country of love and harmony, not hatred. "Nafrat ka Hindustan nahin chahiye, mohabbat ki dukaan chahiye. AAP's Arvind Kejriwal says anything that comes to his mind. When he came, he said that he would bring a new kind of politics. He had said that he would change Delhi but when the poor people were in need, he was not there..."

The Congress leader also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of ignoring the struggles of unemployed youth while indulging in extravagant events. "The youth of the country does not have employment, but PM Modi dances in parties worth eight to ten crores... The RSS and BJP only want to create fights between brothers," he said.

Referring to a recent statement by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Gandhi accused him of insulting the Constitution. "A couple of days ago, Mohan Bhagwat insulted the Constitution and said that the country had gained freedom when PM Modi came to power. This is an insult to Ambedkar and the poor. The fight is for the Constitution. BJP had said that once they crossed 400 seats, they would change the Constitution, but they have done nothing," he said.

Rahul Gandhi also took aim at Indian businessman Gautam Adani, alleging that he benefits from his ties to PM Modi. "They want to create fights between people from different castes and want to use your money. Adani is a special friend of Modi... his wealth which is brought by his company is ruled by the PM. That's the reality. He (Gautam Adani) is looting you... You dream of employment, but you aren't able to get rid of the rising prices of commodities. You are being distracted into paying GST. I raised this issue in the Parliament but Modi did not answer.. he silently avoided it," the MP said.

The Congress leader promised that, if voted to power, his party would conduct a caste census to ensure equitable participation. "Wherever our government comes, we will conduct a caste census and find out who has how much participation," he said.

Appealing to the public, Gandhi concluded, "I appeal to the public to open their eyes and see the reality. You don't have to be afraid of anyone. You have to fight against the evil of hatred and make sure we spread love in this country. This is the country of brotherhood and love, and we will continue to fight for this and make sure we win."

Prove 'poison in Yamuna' claim or face action: EC's ultimatum to Arvind Kejriwal
The Election Commission of India has issued a notice to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal demanding proof of his claim that BJP mixed poison in the Yamuna river to avoid potential legal consequences. Citing serious ramifications like public unrest, the ECI asked Kejriwal to validate his statement by Wednesday evening. The BJP has also urged ECI to bar Kejriwal from campaigning.
Congress on Wednesday released its manifesto for the Delhi polls.

Amid the poll campaigning, Arvind Kejriwal's claims that BJP's Haryana government is poisoning the Yamuna water has escalated into a row. While Kejriwal along with Delhi CM Atishi stay firm on the claims, Haryana CM has denied the accusations and even took a sip from the river water in Delhi's Palla village to disprove the claims.

As Delhi’s assembly elections approach, both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are intensifying their campaigns. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal highlighted his party’s welfare initiatives, including 24-hour free electricity, water, and healthcare, accusing the BJP of misusing public funds to benefit the wealthy. He warned voters that the BJP would end these services if they come to power.
