Coronavirus live updates: India reports over 3k Covid deaths for 4th day
India on Friday posted a record daily rise of over 3.86 lakh new Covid-19 cases and continued to post over 3,000 deaths for the third consecutive day, as per Union health ministry data updated at 8 am. With 386,452 new cases recorded on Friday, India's tally of total Covid-19 cases now stands at 1,87,62,976, the highest since the pandemic started in 2019. The death jumped by 3,498 over the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 2,08,330, according to the health ministry data. Stay with TOI for all the updates on coronavirus

Dacing shortage of Covid-19 vaccines, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday deferred Phase 3 of the vaccination for the 18-45 age group, slated to begin on May 1, while also announcing that vaccination at private health facilities will remain suspended from Saturday. He made it clear that due to non-availability of vaccines, Phase 3 of vaccination of 18-45 age group cannot be started as scheduled.
