Schools for junior classes to reopen after festival season: DDMA
The DDMA in its meeting on Wednesday decided to reopen schools for junior classes after the festival season, official sources said. The DDMA maintained that the Covid situation in the city is "good" but precautions must be maintained, sources present in the meeting chaired by Lt Governor Anil Baijal said. It was decided during the meeting that "schools for remaining classes will be reopened after Diwali”, they said.

Ladakh records highest single-day recovery of 56 Covid patients
adakh recorded its highest ever single-day recovery of 56 coronavirus patients, taking the tally of recoveries to 20,487 and bringing down active cases to 94, officials said on Wednesday. Two new cases of COVID-19 pushed the infection tally to 20,788, officials said, adding both the cases were reported from Leh. Of the total active cases in Ladakh, 90 are in Leh and 4 in Kargil, officials said.

Poland's new Covid-19 cases surpasses 1000 for the first time since May
The number of new daily coronavirus cases in Poland surpassed 1,000 for the first time since late May on Wednesday, the health minister told Radio Plus, as a fourth wave of the pandemic gathers pace amid low vaccination rates. Puducherry logged 93 fresh cases of Covid-19
Puducherry logged 93 fresh cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, taking the total positives to 1,26,308. The new cases identified at the end of examination of 5,927 samples were spread over Puducherry 45, Karaikal 30, Yanam 3 and Mahe 15. One more person died of the virus in Puducherry region during last twenty- four hours raising the toll to 1,840. The active cases were 828 of whom 118 were undergoing treatment in hospitals while the remaining 710 patients were in home isolation

Kerala under-reported 2 million Covid cases
An analysis of admission and mortality in the nine hospitals empanelled under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PMJAY) in Kerala (among the top 25 such hospitals with the maximum number of beneficiary deaths in India), shows that 13,609 beneficiaries died in these hospitals. Among them, 275 died of Covid, while the remaining 13,334 were beneficiaries treated for non-Covid diseases. From January 2020-August 2021, of the 4,29,454 PMJAY beneficiaries admitted to these hospitals, only an estimated 2% were treated for Covid. In Kerala, 60 % of the population is covered under the scheme.
