Coronavirus live updates: WHO to send mission to virus-hit China

The death toll in the coronavirus outbreak has risen to 724. The viral outbreak that began in China has now infected more than 34,800 people globally.In India, three cases of infection were reported, all from Kerala. Stay with TOI for live updates

I am not aware of any restriction imposed by govt of India on the operation of any commercial flight between India & China. Airlines are free to take the decision based on their own assessment on ground.

Saudi Arabia bars citizens, residents from travel to China, reports AP.

Saudi Arabia on Thursday barred its citizens and residents of the kingdom from travelling to China amid the new virus outbreak. The kingdom's General Directorate of Passports said the measure was in response to the new virus believed to have stemmed from central China.

Panic buyers in Hong Kong have descended on supermarkets to snap up toilet rolls as the government warned that online rumours of shortages were hampering the city's fight against a deadly coronavirus outbreak. Rejected by hotels, China tourist lands in Kerala hospital

A Chinese youth, who is on a trip to India, was quarantined at the General Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram following the intervention of police. The 27-year-old from Sichuan province, around 1,300km from Wuhan, the epicentre of coronavirus outbreak, had arrived in Kerala on Tuesday afternoon. Read more

Avoid frozen meat; shaking hands while greeting in public: Delhi govt advisory on coronavirus

In its health advisory, the Delhi government has asked people to exercise caution, like cleaning hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub; covering nose and mouth while coughing; sneezing using tissue; avoiding close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms; avoiding frozen meat, besides isolation of symptomatic patients for at least 14 days. Workers making iPhones at tech giant Foxconn's plant in central China will be quarantined for up to two weeks, the company said Thursday, as cities on the mainland tighten their defences against the deadly coronavirus outbreak.

China may delay annual meeting of parliament due to virus outbreak, reports Reuters quoting sources.

"The focus remains on taking steps forward towards meeting on schedule, but we are discussing a range of options as the (virus) situation doesn't look likely to be contained by March," a senior government official told Reuters, declining to be identified given the sensitivity of the matter.
