West Bengal reports 3,042 new cases, 58 deaths

West Bengal has reported 3,042 new COVID-19 cases and 58 deaths, taking the total number of cases here to 1,74,659, as per the State Health Department on Saturday. Out of 1,74,659 cases, 1,50,801 people have been discharged after recovering from the disease, while 3,510 patients have succumbed to deaths. There are 23,390 active cases in the state, it added.

Punjab reports 1,515 new Covid-19 cases

Punjab reported 1,515 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday taking the total number of cases to 61,527 in the state. According to the state government, 69 deaths were reported today and the death toll has gone up to 1,808. A total of 1306 patients were discharged on Saturday.

India's Covid-19 tally past 40-lakh mark with highest single-day spike of 86,432

India registered the highest single-day jump of 86,432 new coronavirus cases taking the national caseload past 40-lakh mark on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With 1,089 more deaths, the cumulative toll reached 69,561. The total case tally stands at 40,23,179 including 8,46,395 active cases, 31,07,223 cured/discharged/migrated cases.

Raj govt permits private hospitals to rope in hotels as Covid care centres

The private hospitals will have to sign an MoU with the hotels after taking permission from district collector and as per the conditions laid down by the state government, an official statement said. The state government also fixed the maximum charges to be taken from patients who will be kept in these extended COVID care centres in three different categories of hotels- high class, medium class and standard class.

The famous Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah here will open after over five months on Sunday, but there will be no Qawwali evenings at the shrine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the dargah's caretakers said. Safety measures like use of sanitisers and face covers as well as social distancing will be strictly followed at the dargah of Sufi saint Hazrat Nizmuddin, which was closed in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, they said.

The Madhya Pradesh government on Saturday said Durga Puja celebrations will be allowed in the state but with an attendance cap of 100 persons in pandals. This was decided in a meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in the state, minister for medical education Vishvas Sarang said on Saturday night.

J&K sees record one-day jump of 1,251 cases

Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday recorded 1,251 COVID-19 cases, its highest single-day spike in infections, pushing the tally to 42,241, while 15 fatalities in the past 24 hours raised the death toll to 770, officials said. Among the new cases, 739 were from the Jammu region, while 512 from the Kashmir Valley.
