Realizing the power of social media websites now Congress in Himachal Pradesh has decided to take online route to reach out to voters across hill state ahead of 2014 election.

SHIMLA: Realizing the power of social media websites now Congress in Himachal Pradesh has decided to take online route to reach out to voters across hill state ahead of 2014 election. Setting up of Facebook page of party is also being seen as a step of transformation of leadership from old to young generation.
Eyeing young vote bank that are more into social networking sites these days discussing and debating issues Congress in Himachal Pradesh has made its Facebook page besides preparing its own website.

A senior leader said that through its Facebook page, party would highlight the programs and policies of state and central governments.
According to senior party leaders, basic idea is to connect youngsters with the party by providing them a platform to debate and discuss the policies and programmes of Congress governments in the state and centre. "Through Facebook we will reach out to the voters residing in the remotest corner of state where people stay connected with social networking sites on their mobile phones," added the leader.
"Opposition BJP keep on blaming that neither union nor the state government is carrying out sufficient developmental activities. Through Facebook page we would reach out top young and educated voters across the state to tell them what actually the Congress governments are doing," said HPCC president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
Trying hard to win all four Lok Sabha seats, Congress in the state has already started mobilizing its resources in advance. According to sources efforts are also on to invite AICC president Sonia Gandhi in December to start the poll campaign for 2014.
After identifying 10 weak assembly segments in the state where party has not won for last 15-20 years, HPCC has already deputed its cabinet ministers on each assembly segments with the direction to hold monthly meetings with workers to consolidate party's position.
